The scratching in your ceiling at night is almost certainly roof rats, Tampa Bay’s dominant rodent. They run power lines and oak branches onto the roof, squeeze through gaps as small as a quarter, and set up in attic insulation where they gnaw wires, contaminate everything below them and breed year-round in our climate.
Poison alone is the wrong answer: it leaves carcasses rotting in your walls and never addresses how they got in. Our program traps the population inside, seals every entry point with animal-rated materials, and sanitizes the contamination they leave behind. Full exclusions carry a one-year warranty, because sealed means sealed.
Signs of rats or mice in your home
- Scratching or running sounds in the ceiling at night
- Droppings in the attic, garage or under sinks
- Gnaw marks on wires, ducts or stored boxes
- Greasy rub marks along beams and entry holes
- Pets alerting at walls or ceilings after dark
Frequently asked about rodent control
Why not just use rat poison?
Poisoned rats die in your walls and attic, creating weeks of odor and fly problems, and new rats simply replace them through the same holes. Trapping removes the animals cleanly, and exclusion stops the replacements. That is the permanent fix.
How do rats get into the attic?
Roof rats travel trees and utility lines onto the roof, then enter through soffit returns, gable vents, roof-to-fascia gaps and builder gaps under tile. Ground-level entries matter too, but in Florida the roofline is the main highway.
How long does rodent removal take?
Trapping typically clears the indoor population in one to two weeks. Exclusion sealing happens alongside it. Most homes are rodent-free and fully sealed within two weeks of starting.
Do you clean up after the rats are gone?
Yes. Droppings, urine-soaked insulation and nesting material carry pathogens and a scent trail that attracts new rodents. Our sanitation service removes contamination and deodorizes the attic, see our disinfecting services.
